Focus
Bouldering is wonderful mind detergent, just waiting to wash your brain clear of all thoughts about your job, money, significant other, etc. The Godfather of Bouldering, John Gill called it “moving meditation.” Focusing is as easy as getting on the rock and thinking about nothing but executing each move flawlessly. Difficult problems are particularly good for bringing focus. So are risky “no falls allowed” problems, which require full attention. That said, if you find yourself unable to focus on a risky problem, climb back down and return when your head is clear. Don’t get injured forcing the issue if the mind isn’t focused on the task.
